About the Artist

Jennie Parsons Francis

Jennie Francis was born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi. She attended Millsaps College and graduated from Nicholls State University in Louisiana with a BA in English and French in 1980. She moved to Henderonville, NC in 1993 and began painting full time in 1995.

She has studied at the Cape Cod School of Art in Provincetown, MA. She has also studied with nationally known pastel artists Kitty Wallis and Jack Pardue, and with nationally known landscape artist Bill Jameson. She has taken classes with local artists Jim Carson and Jean Lindabury. In addition, she has taken classes at the John C. Campbell School of Art and Craft in North Carolina and the Spring Maid Watercolor Workshop in Myrtle Beach, SC.

She works in soft pastels as well as acrylics in an impressionistic style. Jennie employs bold,vivid colors in painting the changing seasons around her home in Hendersonville, NC and on travels throughout the US and abroad.

She has had successful solo shows in Jackson, MS and Charlotte, NC and Dallas, TX and Hendersonville, NC.

She is currently represented by Gallery 119 in Jackson, Mississippi and at her own studio/gallery in Hendersonville, NC located at 103 West 4th Ave in Hendersonville. She is also showing at Interiors Market, Jackson, Mississippi and 7 Sisters Gallery, Black Mountain, North Carolina.

She is a member of the Southeastern Pastel Society. Her work is hanging in private and corporate collections throughout the southeast. She lives in Hendersonville, North Carolina and is married to Dr. Robert Francis.
